The Josephine Sculpture Park is a unique stop on the Frankfort Public Art Tour because it is constantly changing with the seasons and the artists in residence that inhabit the park each year.

A non-profit outdoor gallery, the park is free and open every day. Visitors can meander walking paths through native meadows to view nearly seventy works of art, some of which are permanent and some temporary, allowing for a new experience with each visit.

Melanie VanHouten, the park’s Founding Director, believes that making art is an innate part of our humanity and that experiencing art is critically important as a part of our everyday lives. In short, it brings people together and enables each of us to consider new perspectives and ways of thinking and seeing the world. Melanie, a sculptor herself, came home to Kentucky to transform her grandmother’s farm (where she had roamed as a child) into this sculpture park. She sees the park as a way to share art and the rural landscape with the community at large.
