Downtown Frankfort by Trolley

Available Seasonally April- October

Due to short staffing, please call to confirm the trolley’s schedule before arriving.

9:00am

Begin your morning with breakfast at B’s Bakery for breakfast croissant or one of her signature donuts. Most of downtown street parking has a 2-hour limit. There is free parking in the lot at the intersection of Broadway and Ann Streets. There is a garage at Main St. and Ann St. which has a nominal fee.

10:00am

Board the Trolley on St. Clair Street, just across from the Visitor Center.

Enjoy a tour of downtown.  Your driver will tell you all about the historic homes and buildings you see on the drive.  This area of Frankfort boasts beautiful architecture, dating back to the 1700’s.  Sit back and enjoy the story of our rich history and spirited past.

10:30am

Trolley in front of the State Capitol Building

First stop – The Capitol Building for a complimentary tour.  You may take either a guided tour or explore the beautiful and historic richness of this grand structure on your own. The Floral Clock, located behind the Capitol, is the perfect place for a photo opp!

11:15am

The trolley will be passing by the Capitol now, so we suggest boarding for a ride to Rebecca Ruth Candy Tours and Museum. Just $6 will get you in for a behind-the-scenes look at how these delicious chocolate candies are made, and the kids will leave with not only a sweet treat, but also a better understanding of a very brave and determined woman by the name of Ruth Hanly Booe.

Noon

Hop back on the trolley for a quick trip over the river.  Get off at the corner of Broadway and St Clair will allow for you to walk to several local restaurants, shops, museums, and Poor Richard’s Bookstore.  We suggest grabbing a bite to eat at one of our downtown local eateries, and then either take a self-guided walking tour of the Public Art walk, featuring beautiful murals and sculptures.  Or, if you are with us on a Tuesday or Thursday, check out the guided Bourbon and History Walking Tour, led by “Colonel E H Taylor”, that begins at the Visit Frankfort Welcome Center.

2:00pm

The trolley will be passing by the welcome center again, so why not take it out to Buffalo Trace Distillery to enjoy a tour and tasting?  Buffalo Trace is the oldest continuously operating distillery in America.  It is also the most award-winning distillery.  Tours and tastings are complimentary, but reservations are required.
