Prepare for liftoff. Whiskey Thief Distilling Co. (WTDC) will be mission control for a unique, fun and educational experience. Alcohol in Space will shine a spotlight on the book and documentary of the same name, while including opportunities to chat virtually with an astronaut and star & planet gaze through telescopes.
The free event, which is perfect for families, space lovers, and whiskey fans, is from 5-8 PM Saturday, Oct. 26 at Whiskey Thief’s farm in Franklin County (283 Crab Orchard Road). The Alcohol in Space event includes:
· Alcohol in Space Past Present and Future Author Chris Carberry will chat with guests and sign copies of the book. Carberry is the CEO of the non-profit organization Explore Mars, Inc. He lives in Virginia and will be in Kentucky for the event, “I’m excited to talk about the passionate beverage producers who hope to manufacture their products in space. Over the next couple of decades, thousands of ordinary people will be vacationing in space, or living and working in space, or exploring deep space. All of them will want to bring some of the basic creature comforts of home.”
· The new Alcohol in Space documentary by Sam Burbank will stream throughout the evening.
· Guests can virtually Q&A with an astronaut.
· Students and faculty from the Morehead State University Space Science Center will lead guests through star-and-planet gazing through telescopes.
· Whiskey Thief tours, tastings, and bottling will be available to those who are 21+.
Kids of All Ages can Chat with an Astronaut, Star & Planet Gaze through Telescopes, Meet the Author of Alcohol in Space, and Watch the Documentary about the Book. There Will Be Whiskey, too.
A percentage of proceeds from Alcohol in Space will benefit Higher Orbits. Higher Orbits is a non-profit with the mission of promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; along with leadership, teamwork, and communication through the use of spaceflight.
