Antique Fishing Reel Show

September 14 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Old Reel Collector’s Association is hosting a fishing reel show on Saturday September 14 at the Capital Plaza Hotel. Bring family and friends to see hundreds of historic fishing reels. Visit with the country’s most knowledgeable experts on fishing and fishing reels. Bring your angling artifacts  for appraisals or to be auctioned.

The history of fishing reels in Frankfort, Kentucky, includes the invention of the Frankfort Kentucky Reel, the work of the Meek brothers and the reels of Clarence Gayle.

Around 1852, reel maker Jonathan Meek formed a new business in Frankfort Kentucky with one of his apprentices, Benjamin Milam, and the reels they produced were stamped “MEEK & MILAM”. Meek & Milam reels were produced until 1881 at which time the reels were subsequently marked with just Milam’s name – “B.C. MILAM”.

Admission is $5.00
