Bourbon Archaeology: Unearthing Spirited Histories

In celebration of Frankfort Heritage Week – May 16-22, 2021

Hosted by the City of Frankfort and presented by Nick Laracuente, Kentucky’s Bourbon Archaeologist .

The distilling industry is a critical piece of Kentucky’s history and its continued success. Nick will discuss the three tiers of distilleries (moonshine, farm, and industrial) and how they both influenced and were influenced by
economic, social, and technological trends in Kentucky. This talk will highlight findings from archaeological investigations at each type of distillery and discuss similar opportunities at local sites.
