Downtown Derby Celebration

May 7 @ 9:00 am - 9:00 pm

The 2022 Downtown Derby Celebration will take place in Historic Downtown Frankfort on May 7, 2022. Be sure to join us for a day of fun and festivities. Beginning at 8 am, our local restaurants will be serving up some derby specials to eat and drink! There will be live music, the YMCA’s Kids Derby Dash, the Pedal for the Posies, and activities for the whole family. The afternoon will feature more live music, derby specials and a live broadcast of the race! Here is the day’s schedule:

Morning Activities

 8am – Noon

  • Derby breakfast offered at downtown restaurants
  • Farmers Market at Wilkinson & Broadway
  • KSU Food Truck – next to Capital City Museum

  9 am – Noon -Capital City Museum       

  • Screen printing
  •  Do-it-yourself rose making for derby winner blanket

  9am – Noon- Kentucky Historical Society – Old State Capitol lawn

  • Derby hat making, stick horse races, jockey silk decorating
  • Live animal demos

9 am – Noon -First Christian Church

  • Pony Rides
  • Inflatable slide and toddler farm
  • Face painting
  • Horse & Jockey photo station
  • Crafts and sensory experience with Yes Arts
  • Games with prizes
  • Kid-friendly food
  • Restrooms & changing station

9am – Noon -St Clair St.

  • Derby Belles
  • Selfie Station with a giant Mint Julep
  • S’More making
  • Kettle corn
  • Frankfort Mustang Club
  • Bourbon ball samples
  • Root beer samples

9am – Noon – 316 Wapping St.

  • Hobby horse making

9:30 am – 10:00 am -Stage at Broadway & St. Clair

  • Western Hills High School Choir

10:00 am – Live music – stage at Broadway & St. Clair

10:00 am – Shop Local! Downtown shops open today!

            Broadway Clay – Painting party and pottery wheel lessons from 9am to 5pm.  Register for  your spot on the wheel anytime between 9am and  noon: /483?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=12

The Frankfort Trolley- will be running its regular route from 10 am – 4:30 pm on  on May 7
