Kentucky State University at 135 – Our History

In celebration of Frankfort Heritage Week – May 16-22, 2021

Hosted by Kentucky State University. Kentucky State University is honoring its history with a new book and panel discussion as it celebrates its 135th anniversary. As part of the anniversary celebration, Kentucky State is
hosting “Our History: Kentucky State University at 135” on May 18 at David H. Bradford Hall in Carl H. Smith Auditorium. The event can be viewed  @KyStateU Facebook Live ( or via Zoom at 980 1850 3350 and 391226. The event will serve as the debut of Kentucky State University’s history book, written by Dr. John Hardin.

The event will also feature a panel of University and community members who have witnessed Kentucky State’s history, including President M. Christopher Brown II, Dr. John Hardin, former University presidents, and other special guests. This conversation will feature members sharing firsthand perspectives of the institution’s growth and challenges, with a special focus on the school’s increasing academic preeminence, the development of the campus, and growth in campus diversity, athletics, and more.

Renee Shaw, director of public affairs and moderator of Kentucky Educational Television’s (KET) public affairs programming and content, will serve as the panel moderator.
