This memorial is a 22-foot wide and more than 9 foot high black granite stone in the shape of Kentucky that bears the names of Kentucky National Guard soldiers and airmen who have died in the line of duty. All 120 of Kentucky’s counties provided soil samples which were placed under the foundations of the memorial.
