Explore the night sky with expert guidance from Dan Price, NASA Solar System Ambassador, outside through our large telescopes. The Night Sky Tour includes multimedia presentations in the Art Barn that explores the sun, starting at 7pm. Observation begins at 8pm.

There’s no need to register, just come on out. Want to learn more about your own telescope, bring it out! All ages welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. You may come and go anytime between 7-11pm.

Suggested $10 donation per group or couple.

First Sunday Guided Nature Tour: 2020 Phenology Wheel

Get outside and create in the new year! During this First Sunday Guided Nature Tour, JSP staff will introduce a nature journal template that serves as an easy, motivating way to get you and your family exploring nature and art together each month. We will use a phenology wheel template to “fill in” the month of January together, based on a special thing or moment that happens during the guided park tour. The walking tour will last approximately 30 minutes and explore JSP habitat and art, followed by the approximate 30 minute phenology wheel creation.

**Accessibility: Our paths are mowed and traverse the landscape to be as accessible as possible by motorized wheel chair. However, some paths are not accessible. Please contact us prior to your visit if you would like to reserve our golf cart.**

During this approximately 1-hour guided walking tour (see accessibility note below), land steward and JSP board member, Joyce Bender, will guide you through a “Winter Ramble,” a walk through the park exploring how the plants and animals at JSP make it through the winter. You may also learn about JSP’s conservation practices, and examine how select sculptures connect us with our environment.

Explore a nature-based sustainable art practice using the cob building method with JSP Artist in Residence, Tara Remington (known as “Remi”). During this 2-hour private workshop, you will learn how to build with cob by applying the method to Remi’s sculpture, and explore Remi’s artistic practice and process. The result will be a larger-than-life-sized TerraHand interactive sculpture that overlooks a shaded forest area at Josephine Sculpture Park. One by one, you and Remi will learn and create together to build a place of rest, meditation, and healing for the Earth and community.
Please bring a mask and gloves (leather, gardening or rubber/latex work fine) to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. This is a HANDS-ON workshop, so please wear clothes you do not mind getting muddy. You may also want to bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellant.

Heat, smoke, hair, and pottery! Join Broadway Clay and Josephine Sculpture Park to experience the raku firing process. Watch as potters remove their pieces from the kiln at bright-red heat and smoke them to create incredibly unique and beautiful surfaces. You will also learn more about the process from Broadway Clay’s professional educators and artists.
This event will take place outside behind the Josephine Sculpture Park Art Barn (adjacent to the parking lot). Please maintain at least 6ft distance from participants not in your household and wear a mask. Thank you for helping prevent the spread of COVID-19 and take care of our community!
