Gov. and Mrs. Matt Bevin cordially invite all Kentuckians and their guests to join them at the Governor’s Downtown Derby Celebration on May 4th from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in downtown Frankfort.
The 2019 Derby Celebration will showcase Frankfort with new and traditional festivities for which the Governor’s Derby Celebration is known—offering plenty of color, excitement, entertainment, children’s activities, and food to suit all tastes.
The YMCA Derby Dash on Broadway and the stick horse races on the Old State Capitol lawn have become annual events which children love to race in. The 7th annual Pedal for the Posies adult tricycle race will also take place. Several downtown restaurants will be open and offering special Derby morning fare.
A free concert featuring bands from across the Commonwealth will headline the entertainment on the Jim Beam Brands Stage directly in front of the Old State Capitol. And the crowd-pleasing tradition of having Kentucky artists exhibiting and selling their work will continue this year.

Join us for a street party and concert on Main Street between High Street and Ann Street. Frankfort Mayor Bill May will be joining Freekbass and Sammi Garett of Turkuaz for a special night of music with another collaboration of a super group of touring musicians.
This “super group” of accomplished musicians was put together by Bill May and will be playing original music by Freekbass, and songs by Prince, Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, Ohio Players, and others. The audience will not be able to stop moving once this group starts with their super energetic grooves.
Food and drinks will also be available from Bourbon On Main, Goodwood Brewing and other food vendors.
