We hope you have enjoyed our Buffalo Trace trilogy over the past few months. We’ve introduced you to Freddie Johnson, the distillery’s bourbon ambassador; you’ve learned about a secret garden that thanks to Buffalo Trace’s talented landscape team is becoming less of a secret and discovered that a casual café has opened in the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse.
But we’re not done yet with heralding all that Kentucky’s oldest continuously operating distillery has to offer visitors. The onset of summer means the opening of their Bourbon Backyard where you can taste the sweetness of the season in a tantalizing new drink and swing to its sounds at a Summer Concert Series.
From July 4th through September 7th, come join us for adventures as finely crafted as our signature product.
It all kicks off on July 4th at 8:00 a.m. with the Great Buffalo Chase Fun Run. Don your best patriotic attire and come help us celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
Bring the entire family – even the furry members – as cash prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed participants (both human and canine) following the 2.5k run.
You must register by noon on July 2nd, and the $30 entry fee includes a commemorative T-shirt.
What better way to quench the summer heat than with a cold lemonade fresh from the neighborhood stand?
We can think of only one thing – the distillery’s new Bourbon Lemonade, a refreshing cocktail combining the heritage of Buffalo Trace bourbon and the tantalizing tartness of real lemon juice.
Complimentary tastings will be offered all summer long, and packs are available for purchase in the Gift Shop.
The distillery may be a bit younger than the country, but on these grounds
America’s native spirit has been produced for more than 200 years.
This summer Buffalo Trace’s National Historic Landmark Tour allows visitors to take an evolutionary journey through the development of American whiskey, exploring the history and the legacy where it all took place.
The tour ends at Warehouse V, where the distillery’s nine millionth barrel is happily aging.
It also features a progressive tasting with samples from E.H. Taylor, Prohibition Collection and Blanton’s.
This summer, if it’s Thursday, it must be Backyard Sessions, the weekly free concert in the distillery gardens where great live music, food trucks and cold drinks are just the thing for a balmy evening.
Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. Seating is on a first come, first served basis, so don’t be late.
If Thursday evenings are for music, Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is reserved for Biscuits & Bourbon, a bountiful brunch for those 21 and over at the Elmer T. Lee Clubhouse.
Start by building your own biscuits (be as creative as you want) before heading to the Bloody Mary bar to craft your own perfect libation. Then, with some good food in your stomach, you’ll be ready for a guided tasting of selected Buffalo Trace bourbons in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Cost of the brunch is $25.
This sounds like a pretty full summer at the Trace to us, but Sazerac’s Associate PR Manager Cory McCauley teases that they will soon be announcing an additional summer experience about which he will only hint, “think summer camp for bourbon lovers.”
We can hardly wait.
