The Conversation

The stage is set, the curtains drawn, and a drama unfolds. This scene portrays Kentucky. The empty chair has been used by David for over a decade, depicting human presence.  The imaginary constellation echoes a conversation, jumping randomly from point to point, veering off on different tangents, and circling back to discover new ideas and thoughts.

David stated that his work has always been driven by narrative and metaphor. For him, art is always an act of discovery, of exploration, and telling of a story.  He wants his audience to determine what they think the narrative should be.

“Art is an interaction and the ladder, along with the empty chairs,  is inviting you to participate in the painting, in the discovery and exploration”
